Suge Knight

Compton, CA — Rap mogul Suge Knight is facing life in prison after he reportedly ran over two men with his car, killing them both. Police have officially charged him with the crime, and he is facing charges of murder, attempted murder, and hit-and-run. He is also being charged with an committing a serious and violent felony while out on bail in another pending case.

Knight, who is 49-years old, will be arraigned soon and is currently being held at the Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles without bail.

According to the Los Angeles Superior Court judge that handled his case, Knight is a flight risk and is a third-strike candidate.

So what exactly happened?

According to witnesses, Knight was in Compton, California on the set of a promotional video for the upcoming film Straight Outta Compton when an altercation broke up. Next, Knight reportedly ran over the two men (Terry Carter and Cle “Bone” Sloan) at a nearby burger stand with his vehicle. Terry Carter died later at a hospital.

Part of the altercation was actually caught on tape, and the video has already been taken into custody by police. His attorney claims it was an accident, and that Knight was merely trying to get away from two other men who were threatening him.

Who else was there?

Both Ice Cube and Dr. Dre were also reportedly on the scene at the time of the incident, but claim no involvement in the matter.

If convicted, Knight faces up to life in state prison but this is not the first time he’s been in legal trouble. Knight has been arrested several times over the past 20 years for various crimes including gun possession, gang affiliation while on probation, and several misdemeanor batteries.

Knight co-founded Death Row Records in 1991 and built it into the one of the first multi-million dollar rap labels.
