HBCU Grad Creates a Hip-Hop Anthem About the Importance of HBCUs

Sacramento, CA — As a higher education professional, author, motivational speaker and artist, Tara Lynn Crawford is not a stranger to hard work. In fact, the Sacramento native is very familiar with identifying with and overcoming the typical adversities that African Americans are subjected too.Prior to graduating college, earning a near six figure salary, or mentoring hundreds of college students, Tara was navigating through what some would consider a myriad of unknown and unthinkable adversities. Adversities such as attempting to navigate through the depths of the foster care system. After emancipating in 2013, the scholar attended Alabama A&M University and had a very fulfilled college career.

Today, the 25-year old has recently written a book (Unmasked Yet Covered) and recorded a soundtrack that creatively discuss ways to overcome similar challenges. The premier single called “HBCU” is a hip-hop record that speaks to the importance and relevancy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The song is amazing and embodies the culture and true essence of all HBCUs.
