Nationwide — Tayvia Woodfork, an African American woman from Mississippi who had no idea she was pregnant, unexpectedly gave birth to a baby boy in a Golden Corral buffet restaurant in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She has named her baby boy Tamaar Kylon Corral Woodfork, inspired by the restaurant where he was born.“I’m still in shock,” Tayvia told KTLA.
Tayvia had experienced what’s known as a cryptic pregnancy, where the pregnancy goes unnoticed by the mother for a significant time.
The unexpected delivery happened during a stop at the buffet with Tayvia’s family on their way back home to Mississippi. Tayvia, feeling intense pain, didn’t make it to their table and rushed to the bathroom.
Her family initially mistook her discomfort for mere cramps. Tayvia’s sister went to check on her and found her in labor.
“She said, ‘I ain’t never seen nothing like it. It’s a baby!'” her mother, Tameka remembered. “The baby was 6 pounds. It was a full baby.”
After the pain she described as “ten out of ten”, Tayvia received warm applause from the restaurant staff and customers as she was taken out on a stretcher.
Baby Tamaar’s unexpected birth has turned him into a local celebrity, dubbed the “Golden Corral baby” by excited onlookers.
In response to the unusual delivery, Golden Corral acknowledged the event in a Facebook post, hailing Tamaar as their youngest fan.
“And don’t worry, we’ll make sure Mom is well taken care of with Golden Corral gift cards… while she’s taking care of you,” the restaurant said.
