Tiger Woods Tears Achilles While Training, Undergoes Surgery

Tiger Woods Achilles surgery

Nationwide — Tiger Woods is facing another setback in his comeback journey. The 49-year-old golf icon announced on Tuesday that he tore his Achilles while training for the upcoming PGA Tour season at his Florida home. This new injury involves his left leg, which is a different issue from his right leg, which was nearly amputated after a car crash in 2021.

According to TMZ, Woods confirmed he underwent minimally invasive surgery on Tuesday morning. His doctors deemed the procedure a success, and they are optimistic about his recovery. “The surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery,” Woods’ doctor said.

Currently, Woods is resting and recovering at home. He expressed his gratitude to fans and supporters, thanking them for their continuous encouragement during this challenging time.

“I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab, thank you for all the support,” Woods said in his statement in a Facebook post.

This injury comes after a string of surgeries since the life-changing car crash in 2021. In addition to surgeries on his right leg, Woods also had back surgery in 2024, highlighting the ongoing physical challenges he has faced in recent years. Despite these hurdles, Woods has been determined to make a comeback, and his drive to return to the PGA Tour remains strong.

Woods’ career has been marked by incredible achievements, including 15 major championships and a legendary comeback to win the 2019 Masters. However, his physical struggles since the 2021 crash have raised questions about whether he will ever return to the top of the leaderboard again.
