Nationwide — Tracie McKinney is the founder of Colorism No More, the first-ever event series that will directly address colorism and division in African American culture.Tracie comments, “It is time to address the toxic behavior in our own communities, and to bridge the gap within our culture. It is time for transparent conversations, healing, and restoration to break generational curses.”
The first Colorism No More event will be held on Sunday, August 15th, 2021, at the Atrium Venues in Country Club Hills, Illinois. There will be a phenomenal keynote speaker, panelists, a performance by an amazing artist as well as a sit-down dinner. “We are coming together and cultivating change,” says Tracie.
She strongly feels that colorism is a toxic trait in Black culture that must cease. “We must shift our mindsets and transform from a slave mentality. We must unlearn what hinders us. The hate causes so much division within the African American culture, but we must fight for change and make an impact,” Tracie adds. “We can no longer just address racism but ignore cultural prejudices within the African American communities.”
