Nationwide — Travis Hunter, the Heisman Trophy winner and college football star, has deactivated his Instagram amid persistent online criticism of his fiancée, Leanna Lenee.
As the online hate escalated, the Colorado Buffaloes superstar removed his Instagram page on Sunday. While it’s unclear if the decision was directly tied to the criticism, Hunter had previously urged followers to stop attacking his fiancée.
“Talk about my girl? Go talk about your girl,” he said in a video message. “Go find a girl. Go find a life! Stop worrying about what I got going on.”
Lenee, who got engaged to Hunter in February 2024, had been criticized several times since November. She was mocked for her reaction after Hunter’s big game against Oklahoma State, and again after his Heisman win. People also called her out for appearing upset when Hunter interacted with fans after the award ceremony.
Despite the hate, Lenee responded in a video, saying she is deeply in love with Hunter.
“He is perfect in my eyes,” she said.
