6-Year-Old Nigerian Girl Wins Major Scholarship After Scoring 100% in Math Competition

Nationwide — Ugwoezuonu Ogechi Zara, a 6-year-old from Nigeria, has scored a perfect 100% in the National Mathematics Competition’s primary category. Her impressive performance earned her a scholarship worth N21 million (about $13,000 USD).

The Mathematics Association of Nigeria (MAN) awarded Zara the scholarship, which will cover her education at Evergreen College in Enugu for 6 years. This significant achievement was announced by Alex Onyia, an education activist and CEO of Educare, on social media.

Onyia shared the news with pride, highlighting Zara’s exceptional math skills. “Ugwoezuonu Ogechi Zara scored a perfect 100% in the primary category of the National Mathematics Competition organized by MAN,” he wrote on X.

The National Mathematics Competition, a prestigious event organized by the Mathematics Association of Nigeria (MAN), is known for attracting the brightest young students from all over the country. Zara’s success in this highly competitive event has not only highlighted her exceptional math skills but also secured her future education.
