Black Woman Entrepreneur Who Weighs 500 Pounds to Host SuperSize Your Life Expo in Two Cities

Unique Gibson

Nationwide — Unique Gibson, a 500-pound African American woman, entrepreneur, retired social worker, and lifelong advocate of fat activism and size inclusivity, is hosting the 2025 SuperSize Your Life Expo in Chicago this June and again in Atlanta this August. This is the first and only event created exclusively to uplift the extended plus-size community (sizes 26+). The event is also for people who suffer from Lipedema and Lymphedema, two diseases that affect the lymphatic system and are often mistaken for obesity.

The SuperSize Your Life Expo is about bridging the gap between the plus-size community, the medical industry, and the fashion world. It’s about more than just representation — it’s about empowerment. More than 2,000 people are expected to attend and over 250 vendors have been invited, specializing in plus-size fashion, travel, wellness, beauty, and Lipedema/Lymphedema support.

Attendees will experience empowerment speakers, confidence-building workshops, and fashion showcases that affirm the beauty, strength, and worth of every individual. Luxury beauty activations and product sampling will be available, reinforcing the simple truth: plus-size individuals deserve to feel pretty, pampered, and valued too.

The event is about living life today unapologetically and with self-assurance. To maintain this spirit of empowerment and celebration, the expo does not accept weight-loss products or services.

Unique, who is 54 years old, comments, “We’re sick and tired — of being unwelcome, underestimated, devalued. We’re sick of being told we’re unworthy and undeserving, and that our existence is a burden. This expo is for every person on the plus-size spectrum, especially those size 26+ who, like Fannie Lou Hamer said, are ‘sick and tired of being sick and tired.’ “It’s also for every Lipedema and Lymphedema warrior who has been left out of essential care due to a lack of resources and the lack of the diseases’ inclusion in modern medical study.”

The SuperSize Your Life Expo 2025 will take place in two cities:

Chicago, IL – June 21-22, 2025
Atlanta, GA – July 19-20, 2025

This year’s expos aren’t just about visibility, they’re about partnership and change. The SuperSize Your Life Expo is bridging the gap between the plus-size community, the medical industry, and the fashion world.

For the Chicago event, a groundbreaking patient-led town hall will bring hospital administrators and medical leaders together to hear firsthand from plus-size patients and Lipedema/Lymphedema warriors about their experiences in the healthcare system. This is a rare opportunity for the medical community to listen, learn, and collaborate on solutions to make healthcare more inclusive and accessible.

For the Atlanta event, a fashion industry roundtable will give plus-size consumers and industry leaders the chance to discuss what’s missing in plus-size fashion. Retailers and designers will gain authentic, valuable feedback straight from the people who need their products the most.

These forums are not about confrontation, they are about collaboration. The goal is to spark real change and build lasting partnerships that benefit both industries and the plus-size community.

Sponsorship and Partnership Opportunities

The SuperSize Your Life Expo is expanding and seeking brand partners who believe in a more inclusive world. Big Fig Mattress, NAAFA, and JOBST USA have already committed to supporting this movement, and the event welcomes more brands that are looking to engage with an underserved yet powerful consumer base.

There are vendor opportunities as well as sponsorship opportunities for event activations, VIP access, and extensive brand visibility.
