Nationwide — Victoria Harrell, an African American Senior Product Marketing Manager, has officially launched Noir Pages, the first subscription reading platform built exclusively for Black-authored romance, romantasy, and fantasy readers, reaching 142 paying subscribers and $2,200 in revenue within its first 11 days of operation. Founded and built by Victoria entirely without outside investment, Noir Pages represents a first-of-its-kind dedicated home for the Black-authored romance reading community.
The platform has a catalog of 270 books by 100 Black authors, every one of whom writes stories where Black women are the main characters. Subscribers choose from four tiers starting at $9.99 per month, with access to ebooks, audiobooks, an AI reading mood recommendation assistant, and a community feature designed for reading groups. Authors on the platform earn royalties per page with completion bonuses for ebooks and audio, which Kindle Unlimited does not offer — with full transparency on every calculation.
Victoria comments, “I built Noir Pages because romance readers who love seeing black women being loved on — one of the most loyal reading communities in publishing — had no platform built specifically for them. They were just given a sub-section inside a bigger app. They deserved a dedicated home. I kept waiting for someone else to build it, and nobody did. So I did.”

Rae: A Reading Guide Built Specifically for Black Romance Readers
Noir Pages includes Rae, a personalised reading recommendations designed specifically for the nuances of Black-authored romance and romantasy. Unlike generic recommendation engines, Rae understands the difference between subgenres, heat levels, and reader moods. Readers tell Rae their mood, their preferred heat level, or a trope they are craving, and Rae finds the right book. She works entirely from book metadata and reader preferences and never touches manuscript content.
Reading Clubs: Community Infrastructure for Black Romance Readers
Noir Pages includes a fully built Reading Clubs feature — private group spaces where subscribers can chat in real time, vote on book picks, run reading sprints, share highlights, host author Q&A sessions, and access exclusive author content. The feature is available via the platform’s web app.

Victoria is the founder and CEO of Noir Pages. She built the platform while working full-time as a Senior Product Marketing Manager in Orlando, Florida, with zero outside investment and no co-founder or technical team. From author agreements to royalty system design to platform launch, every decision was made and executed by a single founder who identified a gap and refused to wait for someone else to fill it.
