White Parents Charged in Death of Their 7-Year-Old Son Who Weighed 255 Pounds

Nationwide — Damien and Jessica O’Brien have been each charged with second-degree murder, torture, and multiple counts of child abuse in connection with the death of their son. Prosecutors allege the boy weighed approximately 255 pounds at the time of his death and was unable to walk because of his condition. The charges represent allegations that must still be proven in court.

Court documents accuse the couple of causing serious physical harm to their son by failing to provide proper care and medical treatment. Prosecutors further allege they did not seek necessary medical attention and failed to provide a safe living environment before the child died. Law enforcement launched its investigation on November 4, 2025, which ultimately led to the criminal charges.

According to KBTX 3, the criminal complaint also includes allegations involving the couple’s 5-year-old daughter. According to prosecutors, the girl was also morbidly obese and was allegedly found outside the family’s home naked, dirty, and with knots in her hair. Both parents face an additional second-degree child abuse charge related to the younger child.

Despite the seriousness of the accusations, Damien and Jessica O’Brien remain presumed innocent unless and until they are found guilty in court. The charges are allegations, and prosecutors will have the burden of proving them beyond a reasonable doubt during future court proceedings.

If the couple is ultimately convicted of second-degree murder, they could each face a sentence of up to life in prison. For now, however, the case remains in the early stages of the criminal justice process, and no verdict has been reached.
