Woman Arrested for Drunk Driving Tells Black Officer He’ll Get a Visit from the KKK

Julie Edwards, arrested for drunk driving and other charges

Deland, FL — Julie Edwards, a 53-year old white woman from Florida who was arrested for drunk driving, reportedly tried to threaten the Black police officer who arrested her by telling him that he will get a visit from the Klu Klux Klan.

The police responded to a disturbance call on the night of February 7 when they found Edwards driving her car in reverse. According to the responding officers from Volusia County Sheriff’s office, they immediately noticed a strong smell of alcohol when they approached the car.

When Edwards refused to take the breathalyzer test, the officers handcuffed her. She then dropped herself to the ground and refused to get up even though officers demand her to stand. Another officer had to help to get her back on her feet.

As the officer, who is Black, fills out the paperwork for her arrest, Edwards allegedly said, “the Ku Klux Klan would be seeing him and burning crosses on his property” and used racial slurs at him.

Edwards, who had a former record of DUI back in 2011 where she also refused to submit to testing, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, threats against an officer, resisting an officer without violence and prior refusal to submit to testing.

She was transported to the Volusia County Jail but is now freed from jail after posting a $2,500 bond.
