Nationwide — Yoshay Carter, a 51-year-old African American man from Atlanta, Georgia, was arrested after allegedly shooting a juvenile who tried to break into his car early Friday morning. Police said the teen was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his foot.
According to WLBT, officers responded to a reported shooting around 2:20 a.m. on Fairburn Road SW. When they arrived, they found a juvenile with a foot injury caused by a gunshot.
During the investigation, the juvenile admitted he had been attempting to break into a vehicle when the shooting happened. Police later identified Carter as the car’s owner and confirmed he confronted the teen during the break-in.
According to authorities, Carter fired at the juvenile, hitting him in the foot. The injured teen was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover.
Carter was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault. He was booked into the Fulton County Jail.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
