Young Founders of Black-Owned School of Nails and Cosmetology to Host Community Event

Nationwide — Aaliyah Alicia Thompson, owner of the Aaliyah Alicia Thompson School of Nails and Cosmetology, along with sisters Aniah and Anijah Byrd, invites the community to a special event on November 23, 2025, from 2pm to 6pm at 184 North Ave, Jonesboro, GA 30236. They will distribute $35 gift certificates to 100 families in need and provide free haircuts, styling services, and complimentary hot dogs and hamburgers.

This initiative, supported by local donations, aims to empower individuals on the autism spectrum by teaching valuable skills in natural hair care. Community members are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items and volunteer their services.

In 2022, when she was 21, Aaliyah made history as the first woman with autism in the country to open her very own beauty bar. When she was 5 years old, she was diagnosed with autism, but did not let it stop her from learning and achieving more. She was an outstanding student during high school and even graduated with honors.

She found her passion for beauty when she started working at a beauty school and salon, and was able to hone her talent. Her mom, Patricia Terry, always thought that allowing her to open her own beauty bar would make her more successful. And she was right!
