4-Year-Old Boy From Maryland Killed as His Parents Argued on Christmas Eve

Nationwide — Jacobi Jones, a 4-year-old African American boy from Baltimore, Maryland, was tragically shot and killed by his father, Mark Jones, during an argument on Christmas Eve. His mother and 1-year-old sister were also injured before Mark turned the gun on himself.

Around 6:35 a.m. on Christmas Eve, police responded to reports of a shooting at Breslin Court in Baltimore County, according to WLBT. Authorities say the incident began when Mark entered Jacobi’s mother’s bedroom and started an argument. Jacobi asked him to leave, but Mark allegedly grabbed a gun and shot Jacobi in the head. He then shot his wife and daughter in the shoulder.

All three victims were taken to the hospital, where Jacobi was pronounced dead. His mother and sister survived their injuries.

“The agony and pain I feel is something wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I am trying to push through for the sake of the fact that I still have my daughter who needs me,” his mother said.

A GoFundMe was set up to help Jacobi’s mother cover his funeral and other expenses. It has so far raised nearly $36,000.

Meanwhile, Mark Jones is now charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder. His next court hearing is set for later this month.
