The reunion followed a rocky period between them. Earlier this year, Ray J spoke on the Drop The Lo podcast, saying he sometimes felt like “an embarrassment” to his family. “I love my sister, but I’m an embarrassment to them,” he said, adding that despite differences, “we’ll be okay.”
Ray J also shared that his children remain close to Brandy, especially his son Epik, who often talks to his aunt through FaceTime. Still, he admitted that his own conversations with Brandy have been “surface-level.”
In April, Billboard reported that Ray J had posted messages on Instagram saying his sister “hates” who he is after a controversial interview went viral. Brandy later texted him, asking, “What’s going on with you?” and reminding him he’s “better than this.”
Ray J publicly replied, saying he was “being himself” but struggling with personal challenges. “I tried. But I get depressed trying to change when I don’t have a wife anymore and I have no stability!!” he wrote, apologizing to Brandy and their mother.
