Nationwide — Damon Dash has been ordered to pay $4 million to film producer Josh Webber after losing a defamation lawsuit. Webber filed the lawsuit in April 2024, accusing Dash of making defamatory comments about him on a podcast.

According to TMZ, Webber claimed he lost a $4-million producing and directing deal after Dash accused him of theft during an episode of the Earn Your Leisure podcast. Dash referenced a prior legal dispute over the movie Dear Frank, where he was previously ordered to pay over $800,000 to Webber and the film’s producers.

Dash’s comments, which accused Webber and others of stealing from him, allegedly damaged Webber’s reputation. The podcast clip went viral, gaining hundreds of thousands of views, which Webber says caused the company involved in the $4-million project to withdraw their offer.

The court issued a default judgment in Webber’s favor after Dash failed to respond to the lawsuit. This decision adds to Dash’s ongoing legal and financial troubles.

Dash has not yet responded to requests for comment.
