Nationwide — Darius Terrell Robinson, a former high school football coach in Greene County, Georgia, was arrested after investigators say he hit and choked players during the 2025 season. Authorities say the alleged incidents involved student athletes under his supervision.
State investigators said the players were minors who played for Robinson between September and November, according to CBS News. The claims surfaced late last year, prompting a joint law enforcement response.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Robinson, 34, of Union Point, was taken into custody on Tuesday. He faces two counts of aggravated assault and one count of simple battery.
Greensboro police contacted the GBI around 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 after learning of the allegations. Investigators then began examining reports that Robinson assaulted players during team-related activities.
Robinson was booked into the Greene County Jail following his arrest. The GBI said the investigation remains active and encouraged anyone with information to contact its Milledgeville regional office.
The Greene County School System said it has cooperated with investigators since the allegations were reported. District officials said Robinson was removed from his coaching position and placed on administrative leave before his arrest.
Superintendent Dr. Aaryn Schmuhl said school administrators took immediate action after receiving the complaint. He added that the district will continue working with law enforcement while focusing on student safety.
The school system said it will not comment further while the case is ongoing.
