Nationwide — NBA player DeMar DeRozan was reportedly involved in a heated incident at a California sushi restaurant. A brief video shows the Kings forward in a physical argument with another person.
The video also shows DeRozan reaching toward the man’s legs while he was on the floor. After getting up, the man repeatedly asked for his phone back.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the incident is under investigation, according to multiple reports.
DeRozan, 34, recently finished his first season with the Sacramento Kings, where he averaged 22.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. He signed a three-year contract worth $73.9 million last offseason.
The incident came days after the Kings’ play-in tournament loss to the Mavericks. Following the loss, Sacramento parted ways with general manager Monte McNair. Assistant coach Doug Christie was named interim head coach after Mike Brown was fired earlier in the season.
