Nationwide — Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking trial, originally scheduled for May 2025, has been postponed by a week. The decision came after a hearing about a new forced labor charge, wherein Combs pleaded not guilty.
Combs, who already faces charges related to sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting individuals for prostitution, now faces an additional charge of forced labor. Prosecutors allege that he used intimidation and threats, including withholding pay and sleep deprivation, to force employees to comply with his demands.
Prosecutor Mitzi Steiner stated that over 20 potential witnesses could testify but are reluctant to come forward due to fear of retaliation. Judge Arun Subramanian ordered their identities to be shared with the defense under strict confidentiality.
In addition to the trial delay, the prosecution presented new evidence, including a 2016 video allegedly showing Combs in a hotel hallway assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.
If convicted on the charges, including forced labor, Combs could face life in prison. His trial is now set to begin on May 12, 2025.
