Washington, DC — Loc Lov, DC’s award-winning hair salon specializing in natural hair care and elegant loc artistry, will host When Hair Meets Fashion, a charity runway show that will bring chic, African-inspired high fashions and tribal hair artistry to the Washington, DC area. When Hair Meets Fashion Runway Show takes place on Saturday, Oct 6th from 5:00pm – 9:00pm at the Silver Spring Civic Center in Silver Spring, MD.

WHEN HAIR MEETS FASHION EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
African Bazaar Marketplace & Cocktail Reception | 5pm to 6pm:
Hosted by writer and co-host of Black Joy Mixtape Podcast and Culture Genius Podcast — Amber Phillips — the African Bazaar Marketplace & Cocktail Reception kicks-off the event from 5:00-6:00 PM at the Silver Spring Civic Center. In addition to enjoying the African Themed Photo Wall upon arrival, attendees will be able to shop the runway, mingle as they peruse an array of vendors, and sip on signature cocktails amidst a live music backdrop. VIP ticket holders will have access to an open bar during the cocktail reception.
When Hair Meets Fashion Runway Show:
Hosted by radio personality Anthony Oakes from Thursday Night Tea with Anthony, the When Hair Meets Fashion Runway Show will start with the Sound of Africa presented by Farafina Kan African Drummers. Following the opening act, this spectacular hair and fashion showcase will take center stage including the following lineup:
● Locmamas presenting Oliver Davis with The Matador Shop
○ One of Atlanta’s top loctician authorities is Locmamas, led by M. London, who is most known for creating the signature loc styles worn by Grammy nominated artist Ledisi. Now expanded into the Philadelphia area, Locmamas is a one-stop-shop destination for all loc needs.
○ Oliver Davis, known as Matador, started his career as a fabric store in New Orleans then was recruited to work as a stitcher for local costume designers. In 2004, Matador moved to Washington D.C. becoming an independent custom clothier and owner of The Matador Shop. Matador has provided custom clothing to people across the world.
● N Natural Hair Studios presenting ÖFUURË
○ N Natural Hair Studio is a Maryland-based natural hair salon, offering salon services that promotes an Afro-centered aesthetic and strong hair, as the “N,” standing for NDiagne suggests.
○ ÖFUURË is an award-winning African-fashion brand featuring beautiful pieces with vibrant prints and bold patterns for the everyday Queen.
● Loc Lov presenting Oliver Davis with the Matador Shop
○ Regarded as one of the nation’s top 10 natural hair salons by ESSENCE Magazine, Loc Lov Salon is an award-winning, DC-based hair salon specializing in natural hair care and elegant loc artistry.
○ Fashions by independent custom clothier and owner of the Matador Shop — Oliver Davis — will make their return to runway in a breathtaking closing showcase complementing tribal hair masterpieces created by the Loc Lov Salon team.
After the fashion showcases, attendees will be treated to a live cut presentation by the DMV’s master of shears Chiquita Graham. Chiquita works at Loc Lov Salon as a master colorist, loctician, salon manager and educator. While on stage, Chiquita will demonstrate why her shear game is among the very best through a most riveting presentation revealing bold cuts.
