Bolingbrook, IL — Dykota Morgan, a 15-year old girl from Illinois who reportedly didn’t have any underlying medical conditions, died just a few days after she was diagnosed with COVID-19.
Dykota was then taken to the hospital but still, her condition continued to worsen quickly. She died before she could be transferred to another hospital, just 2 days after diagnosis.
She was a freshman at Bolingbrook High School, an artist, and a member of the school’s basketball team. Her mother said she will be remembered for her happy moments.
“Losing her is going to leave a void in everybody who knew her — everybody in the family, from the coaches and teachers to her friends and family — I feel for everybody because I understand exactly what they’re going through because I’m going through it as well,” Krystal told CBS Chicago.
Despite their mourning, Dykota’s family says that they are thankful that they were able to say their goodbyes before she died. Her parents said they have been taking health precautions seriously and are encouraging others to do the same.
