Lauderhill, FL — Manouchika Daniels, a 23-year old mother from Florida, was arrested after she allegedly left her 3-year old daughter alone in a car for about 3 hours while she worked at a strip club. She is facing one count of child neglect in connection to the incident.
When police arrived, they found the girl who appeared to be terrified and confused as she had no adult supervision. She led the police to a black car that wasn’t running but had a crack on the back window. Police said they found toys and a car seat in the back of the car.
After about half an hour since the police arrived, Daniels came to the car and identified herself as the owner of the car and the girl’s mother.
“She admitted that she just left the child there briefly while she dropped somebody off, but later in the case we realized that was not the issue,” Lt. Michael Santiago told Local 10 News, adding that Daniels had left her daughter sleeping in the car since 11 p.m.
“I mean, she could’ve been seriously hurt,” Santiago said. “A 3-year-old is especially vulnerable in this type of situation. You have traffic flow on University Drive and it’s dark.”
Fortunately, someone who was alert while driving noticed that the little girl was by herself and immediately called 911.
The 3-year old girl was placed in the custody of Child Protective Services and Daniels has since been arrested and held without bond.
