FedEx Worker Arrested for Dumping Packages in the Woods Because He Wanted to Go Home

Latavion Lewis

Nationwide — Latavion Lewis, a FedEx contract worker from Alabama, was arrested in Florida after dumping several packages during the busy holiday season. The investigation began when missing packages were found discarded in the woods and along roadsides in Bonifay, Florida.

The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office tracked down Lewis, identifying him as the driver assigned to deliver the missing packages. Lewis admitted to deputies that he discarded the packages instead of returning them to the warehouse “due to the late hour,” according to People.

Lewis was arrested on charges of organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, and illegal dumping. At the time, he was held at the Holmes County Jail.

Meanwhile, FedEx has confirmed that Lewis is no longer working with the company and is fully cooperating with authorities. So far, 44 packages have been recovered, and FedEx is working to deliver the rest to their intended recipients.
