Nationwide — Mae Bailey, an African American mother of five from Little Rock, Arkansas, has fulfilled a lifelong dream at the age of 79 as she became a first-time homeowner.
Expressing her gratitude, Bailey thanked everyone involved in making her dream a reality.
“I want to thank all of Habitat,” Bailey said, according to KATV. “The employees, workers, everybody that know Habitat. I want to thank God for you all, you all are a blessing to Little Rock Arkansas.”
Bailey is already planning a family reunion this July, eager to host loved ones in her new home.
Bailey’s new home was made possible through a collaboration between Habitat for Humanity and the city of North Little Rock’s neighborhood stabilization program, with dedicated volunteers putting their hearts and hands into its construction.
“We believe that we bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope,” said Kelly Fleming, Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas Executive Director. ” I think today was a perfect example of that.”
