Black Teen from Georgia Accepted to 60 Colleges, Secures $1.1M in Scholarship Awards

Mantavius Presley accepted in 58 colleges

Nationwide — Mantavius Presley, a 17-year-old African-American student from Douglas County, Georgia, has secured $1.1 million in scholarship offers from more than 60 colleges and universities, including Morehouse College, Howard University, and The University of Alabama.

Known as “LeBron” by his peers, Presley has excelled academically and demonstrated strong leadership, according to WSB-TV. He serves as president of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and the National Honor Society, while also acting as vice president of the Student Government Association and his senior class.

Presley’s contributions go beyond leadership roles. He manages the JV and Varsity cheer teams, assists with the yearbook staff, and actively participates in seven other school organizations. Outside the classroom, he has logged over 1,100 hours of community service during his high school years.

Douglas County High School shared his achievement in a Facebook post, has since gained over 10,000 reactions.

With graduation nearing, Presley is considering his options before choosing the college where he will pursue his higher education.
