Nationwide — A 76-year-old woman in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, was brutally attacked over the weekend by a fellow resident in her building. Marco Tulio Russi, a 43-year-old man, allegedly broke into her apartment while naked, leading to a violent confrontation that left her severely injured.
“When she opened the door, it looked like what she thought was a woman,” the victim’s sister said, according to Local 10 News. “And when she opened the door, he walked into the apartment and she said ‘Hey, what are you doing? Get out of here!'”
According to the victim’s sister, Russi attacked the elderly woman, causing severe injuries. She said, “She started to scream and he grabbed her by the hair and he hit her head in the floor. Her eyes are black and blue, her face is black and blue. She got two stitches in her head. He really roughed her up terribly.”
After assaulting the woman, Russi fled the apartment and attempted to enter other apartments from a balcony, still unclothed.
“She’s 76 years old,” the victim’s sister said. “I am so thankful to God that she lives through this.”
Russi, identified as an Ecuadorian national in the arrest report, faces multiple charges including burglary with assault or battery, indecent exposure, and resisting an officer with violence. Authorities suspect he was under the influence of drugs during the incident.
Russi is currently held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
