Nationwide — Marcus Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, admitted to struggling with substance abuse after his recent arrest in Maitland, Florida. The 34-year-old faces multiple charges, including DUI, possession of ketamine, and resisting arrest.
Jordan initially pleaded not guilty to all charges, which included felony possession of ketamine, misdemeanor DUI with property damage, and resisting arrest. However, court documents now show that Jordan has acknowledged his substance abuse issues.
According to WBLS, Jordan’s legal team is requesting court approval for him to enter a Pre-Trial Substance Abuse Education and Treatment Intervention Program. His attorneys believe completing the program would benefit both Jordan and the community by reducing the risk of repeat offenses. Jordan has also agreed to waive his right to a speedy trial if allowed to join the program.
This is not Jordan’s first run-in with the law. In 2012, he was arrested in Omaha after a dispute outside a hotel, leading to charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He later pleaded no contest and paid a fine.
After his February arrest, Jordan briefly addressed the situation on social media. He thanked supporters and said he was focusing on his business, Trophy Room.
No court date has been set yet to review his request for entry into the treatment program.
