Nationwide — Miriam Haregot, an African American woman from Los Angeles, who just turned 21 years old, has successfully an abandoned church into a homeless shelter. She is possibly the youngest Black woman to ever open a shelter in the state of California.
Following the shelter’s renovation, Miriam launched the P.A.C.K. Project, which stands for People Advocating Community Kinship. She said they are a group of entrepreneurs, creatives, and other youth from South Central that aims to provide food, housing, and educational programs to those who are homeless and at-promise kids.
Every month, the P.A.C.K. Project goes to Skid Row to serve up hot meals for the homeless, calling it “Feed The Homies.” It’s a small but impactful way to make a difference and spread some kindness.
