Nationwide — Legendary musician Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds was rudely interrupted during a Grammy red carpet interview when a reporter ignored him to yell over to pop star Chappell Roan. The viral moment sparked backlash from celebrities and fans, who called it a blatant sign of disrespect.
The awkward moment quickly went viral, sparking outrage among celebrities and fans who felt Edmonds was disrespected.
Dionne Warwick took to X, quoting the clip of the incident, writing, “13x Grammy Award winning Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds? Am I seeing this correctly?” She followed up with a screenshot of the word ‘decorum,’ tagging the AP’s X account.
Khloe Kardashian also expressed her frustration, posting on X, “Babyface has had such a significant impact on the music industry in sooo many ways. It’s maddening to see a LEGEND not get the respect and attention they deserve.”
Later in the livestream, Fauria offered a public apology, saying, “First I wanted to say that I’m really sorry about interrupting Babyface earlier. Chappell Roan had come up and there was a lot of commotion as there is on these carpets. I’m a big Babyface fan as are we all, so I just wanted to say that.”
Despite the incident, Edmonds handled the situation gracefully, later sharing a statement, “The best part of the night was reconnecting with old friends, meeting new artists and feeling all the love in the room. That’s what I’ll remember. That’s what it’s really about. Music is bigger than any one moment.”
Amidst more backlash, the Associated Press also issued an apology, writing on X, “We are deeply sorry for cutting our interview with Babyface short on our YouTube livestream of the Grammys red carpet. We have apologized to him through his representative and to our viewers on the livestream.”
However, many fans remain outraged, with some even calling for the reporter’s resignation.
