Nationwide — 36-year-old Shendora Adams and her 19-year-old son, Tyiun, from Bainbridge, Georgia, were tragically killed in a murder-suicide on Thanksgiving day. Shendora’s ex-boyfriend, Jamar Calloway, reportedly shot them at their home before fleeing to Ocala, Florida, where he also took his own life.
“My sister was in the process of leaving. He would go nowhere. Like she done put him out several times,” Wilson told WALB.
Despite a restraining order, Calloway, who is 36 years old, broke into their home on the morning of the shooting. Tyiun, who had often stepped in to protect his mother during previous domestic disputes, tried to defend her once again.
“When it came to his mom and sister, he’s going (to) protect them with everything he’s got,” Wilson said.
Domestic violence reports from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department show a history of disputes between the estranged couple, with Calloway facing charges in a 2017 battery case involving a different victim.
“I’m hurt like. I want to know why he did it. Why he couldn’t just leave her alone?” Wilson said.
Tyiun was a senior at Bainbridge High School, planning to become a truck driver after graduation in 2025. His family is devastated by the loss of both him and his mother.
