Nationwide — It has been two years now since comedian and actor Sinbad suffered from a stroke, but his family says that he is in fact recovering and is even learning how to walk again. He reportedly came home in July 2021 after being hospitalized for almost nine months. “He continues to receive therapy, fighting for every inch,” the family said in a statement. “Limbs that were said to be ‘dead’ are coming alive and he’s taking the steps necessary to learn to walk again.
During surgery, however, the doctors discovered a bleed. It was hours before the family learned that Sinbad had returned to the Neuro-ICU in a medically induced coma and placed on a ventilator. “Our hearts were devastated,” the family says. From that point forward, the road to recovery became unclear and extremely difficult for the family to navigate because survival odds from this type of event are approximately 30%.
Recent photos, however, show that he is beating those odds and continues to recover but now his family is asking the public for financial assistance.
The family states: “[We believe] without exception, Sinbad is here because of the multitude of prayers from all who know and love him. We are eternally grateful. Every outpouring of love and the memories of how he has touched all of you have not gone unheard, unseen, or unfelt. Thank you. You have lifted his spirits along the way and inspired the entire family.”
