Nationwide — Meet Akil “Sonny” McLeod, an African American baby who was recently selected as the winner of Gerber’s 14th annual photo search, making him the newest face of Gerber for 2024. He has charmed the judges with his adorable smile and vibrant personality just after celebrating his 1st birthday.
“Every day it’s an honor to watch Sonny conquer so many tiny achievements, from giggles, to trying new foods, to standing up and everything in between. He’s a light in our lives and brings joy to everyone around him,” Sonny’s mom said in a statement, according to WTVY.
This year’s selection panel, which uniquely included parents of previous Gerber Babies and Gerber staff, chose Sonny from the tens of thousands of entries.
As part of his role, Sonny will collaborate with Gerber to “support in its mission to help babies everywhere continue to grow with love,” according to a recent news release. He will be featured across Gerber’s social media and marketing campaigns throughout the year.
Along with the honor of being the 2024 Gerber Baby, Sonny’s family receives a $25,000 cash prize, free Gerber products for a year, and other goodies from child and family brands.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate his first birthday than to be chosen as the 2024 Gerber Baby. We look forward to all the adventures in the year ahead collaborating with Gerber to share his sweet smile with families across the country,” Sonny’s mom said.
