Nationwide — Dr. Toscha L. Dickerson, Founder and CEO of The Big Easy Retreat, a best-selling author, and a Certified Christian Counselor, is intentional about providing women and teens with tools and strategies needed to change their mindset and reduce stress to live healthier and empowered lives.
Dr. Dickerson was named Grand Marshal of Royal Krewe of Royalty in Plaquemine, Louisiana. The parade is set for February 14, 2026, where she will lead the parade and celebrate with the community. She appeared monthly on Instagram Live with Black Parent Magazine to discuss ways to reduce stress and strategies to help women and their children with anxiety and stress-related issues.
Her annual event, The Big Easy Retreat, aims to help women take a deeper dive into their lives by exploring self-discovery, gaining clarity, and reducing stress. This one-day conference will provide participants with transparency, strategies, and techniques on how to create the best version of themselves.
Dr. Dickerson decided to launch the event during the Essence Music Festival Weekend because of its historical setting to meet women from all around the world. She is determined to assist women on their journey to exploring who they are and to help them uncover their authentic selves.
She, along with her 14-year-old daughter, Kaleigh, and the late Ms. Linda Freeman, created the retreat to help educate women and teen girls on how to take care of themselves and to remove the badge of honor around being called “superwoman” or “bag lady”.
She comments, “For us to move forward and live productive lives, we must move past the brokenness so we can experience the breakthroughs. As we continue to live in unprecedented times, it is important that we take care of ourselves and learn the importance of self-care.”
The conference will be celebrating its 4th year and will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
