7-Year-Old Boy From New York Dies After Being Struck By U-Haul Truck

Nationwide — Hakeem Badger, a 7-year-old African American boy from New York, died weeks after being struck by a U-Haul truck on the Fourth of July.

Hakeem was hospitalized with severe injuries and, despite medical efforts, he passed away earlier this week. The Greece Police Department confirmed his death, according to WLBT.

According to Hakeem’s mother, he was crossing the road with her and his younger sibling when the accident occurred.

The community has rallied to support the family, with a GoFundMe campaign initially set up to cover his medical expenses. It has so far garnered over $8,000.

The funds will now go towards his funeral and memorial expenses.
