Medina, OH — Bayer Mack, a nationally-published Black American entertainment journalist, record executive, and award-winning documentary filmmaker struck a deal with Amazon Prime to feature his epic two-part independent documentary BLACK SEEDS: THE HISTORY OF AFRICANS IN AMERICA.

The powerful 70-minute film that is available now as Book I of the documentary uses dramatic historical reenactments, rare period illustrations, and an original music score to explain the socioeconomic reasons behind the transatlantic slave trade. It reveals how the institution of chattel slavery took root in the United States and the bloody resistance Backs waged every step of the way. It is a tale 400 years in the making. A preview of the documentary can be viewed at BlackSeedsFilm.com.

The film won “Best Documentary Feature” at the Denton Black Film Festival, which garnered for Mack the festival’s $20,000 Camera Package Award.

Atlanta-based voice actors Carey Conley and Tangi Greene contributed their talents to the film. Conley is a graduate of Specs Howard School of Media Arts with 30 years of radio and television experience. He has provided voice work for Comcast, KFC, Chrysler, Michigan State University, and Dr. Myles Munroe.

Director Bayer Mack is best known as the founder of the independent record label Block Starz Music and its subsidiary Block Starz Music Television, which produced a critically- acclaimed 2014 documentary on Oscar Micheaux, “The Czar of Black Hollywood.” Block Starz also produced the 2020 Black Reel Award-winning ethnic hair documentary “No Lye: An American Beauty Story.”

The book that inspired the film, “Black History 1619-2019: An Illustrated and Documented African-American History,” is a production of the Yocum African American History Association (YAAHA), which is a national non-profit IRS Section 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing free educational resources to the public about 400 years of African American history. The book is available in ebook and printed format on Amazon and through all national bookstores. All proceeds from book sales are donated to YAAHA.

YAAHA believes Black History is American History and preserving important forgotten information about Black Americans as an integral part of America’s history is vital to: “Changing Perspectives about Black History in America.” YAAHA offers learning tools and references, such as lesson plans and the book.
