Mother Facing Charges For Improper Car Seat After 5-Year Old Dies in Car Accident

Costina Bullock, mother facing charges for improper car seat

Fayetteville, NC — Costina Bullock, a 28-year old woman from North Carolina, was arrested for child abuse charges after her 5-year old daughter died in a car accident because she neglected to put her in a proper car seat.

Police said Bullock was driving without a driver’s license on Gillis Hills Road when she crossed the center line and crashed into another car.

According to ABC 11, there were 2 children in the car with Bullock at that time and both were not properly restrained. Her 5-year old daughter died and the other 4-year old child was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A 50-year old passenger in the car that was hit was also taken to the hospital.

Police said there were witnesses who helped those injured but did not stay for questioning. Police are still seeking information to identify the witnesses of the crash.

Meanwhile, Bullock was charged with felony death by motor vehicle, felony child abuse, misdemeanor child abuse, two counts of child restraint violation, no operators license, left of center and unsafe tires.

She was arrested but was released until she was due to appear in court.
