Oakland, CA — Author and long-time holistic health champion Debra Peek-Haynes will take her message of better living through nutrition to Oakland, Calif. Feb. 20, 2016 when she launches the Heart 2 Heart Conversations Tour at Beebe Memorial Cathedral. VIP tickets will be available for purchase Jan. 17, 2016 at the web site www.eventbrite.com (“Heart 2 Heart Listen”).

A Dallas-based lifestyle consultant who has appeared in national media sharing her personal story of health transformation through diet, Peek-Haynes is a leading advocate of healthy living and wellness. “Listen, Heal & Restore: What’s Your Body Trying to Tell You?” is the theme of her Saturday, Feb. 20 presentation, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 3900 Telegraph Ave. in Oakland, Beebe Memorial Cathedral.

Sponsored by Kaiser Permanente and LiSA Initiative financial services, Heart 2 Heart Conversations will emphasize eating for heart health, avoiding diabetes through diet and exercise, and developing habits that promote overall wellness.

“It’s true, our bodies really do communicate with us,” Peek-Haynes says. “Sometimes the most subtle changes and clues about our everyday health are the most important, but we don’t pay attention.”

Peek-Haynes, who was once told she and her husband, Bay Area native Dr. Frederick D. Haynes, III, couldn’t have children, adopted a regimen of vegetarian organic foods – and recently saw her daughter graduate from college. Her book, The Beginner’s Guide to Healthy Living, was published in 2013 and remains one of the top-ranked Amazon.com books in its category. Because of her commitment to community wellness, she was recently appointed by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) as a community health ambassador.

Linda Clemons, internationally renowned sales and communications expert, founder of Sisterpreneur , Inc., will serve as mistress of ceremonies at the Feb. 20 event.

“It’s great to have Linda’s support, along with that of a reputable healthcare sponsor like Kaiser Permanente, and LiSA Initiative to help send the message that being healthy is a choice we can all make,” adds Peek-Haynes.

Various free health screenings and recipe samplings from her book will be available for participants. A cooking demonstration based on her book, The Beginner’s Guide to Healthy Living, will be featured as part of the event. For additional information, visit www.debrapeekhaynes.com.

Media Note: Peek-Haynes will also be in Memphis on February 27 & 28th.
