Man Says He Stole an 18-Wheeler Truck to Take His Girlfriend For a Ride

West Monroe, LA — Dominique Jefferson Jr., a 21-year old man from Louisiana, was arrested on his birthday after allegedly stealing an 18-wheeler truck. He went through all that trouble because he said he wanted to take his girlfriend for a ride.

Jefferson was arrested last Sunday at around 2 a.m. at a traffic stop when police in West Monroe noticed the 2010 Freightliner tractor truck pulling a Clement dump trailer he was driving. The tractor truck, which was headed down Mitchell Street, had its trailer tires locked up which left long black marks on the roadway, officers say.

According to investigators, Jefferson admitted he did not have a commercial driver’s license. He also claimed he only borrowed the truck, which he had taken from MTM Truck Co. on Well Road, and planned to return it later that morning after taking his girlfriend for a ride.

Jefferson has since been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on a $10,000 bond.
