Nationwide — Real-estate mogul and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is not hiding his feelings about the Black Lives Matter movement. In fact, he is making it very clear that he is not a fan. He told Bill O’Reilly during a recent Fox News interview: “I think they’re trouble. I think they’re looking for trouble.
On their support from the Democratic party
“I think it’s disgraceful the way they’re being catered to by the Democrats,” he said. “And it’s going to end up kicking them you-know-where. I don’t think it’s going to end up good. The fact is all lives matter. That includes black and it includes white and it includes everybody else.”
On what Colin Powell said
When O’Reilly played a clip of former Secretary of State Colin Powell defending Black Lives Matter, Trump responded: “He’s wrong. He’s totally wrong. It’s ‘All Lives Matter,’ and that should be the theme of this country, frankly, or one of the themes. So he’s obviously catering to somebody. I don’t know who he’s catering to.”
So what is the Black Lives Matter Movement anyways?
Organizers of the Black Lives Matter movement say their purpose is to call attention to “systemic mistreatment of African-Americans by police officers”. The movement was formed after a series of recent high-profile incidents over the past year in which unarmed African-American men died during their encounters with law enforcement. It started in Ferguson, Missouri but also includes incidents in Baltimore, MD and other cities.
