The new song, written by Dee Dee Simon and produced by Sweet Success Records, follows the success of her previous hit release “Just Goodbye” – a song that is full of razor-sharp statements about standing up for oneself by leaving those undeserving people behind.
“Stay Together” may sound like a spiritual/gospel song with her deep soulful tone commanding each run and every note, followed by another vocal arrangement harmonizing in the background that is also wrapped in a bass-heavy, polished submerged-sounding production.
However, “Stay Together” carries out a message of emotion and love that is more than how it sounds. Karen begins the song with a voice-over, “A family that prays together, stays together. And I believe that prayer changes the situation. And I also believe that prayer changes a relationship.” Here she and Calvin Richardson took their turn carefully to deliver their own thought and expression on the topics of prayer and relationship, while both vocals were inviting and complimenting each other out.
Karen wanted “Stay Together” to go beyond any kind of limitation, in a way that could give any of her listeners whose “pressure of life can be too much to bear” such strength. “Stay Together” is meant for every kind of people and all walks of life. It is a powerful song about loving one and another, and how prayer is a way to bring everyone together—to keep us stronger even through the hard times.
She comments, “This song will cross all boards and genres to reach every corner of the world once they understand that it is all about the focus of what is in front of you and not what you don’t have.”
