Macon, GA — Kevon Watkins, an 18-year old teen from Macon, Georgia, has been sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of killing his older sister, Alexus Breanna Watkins. He strangled her to death during an argument over their home’s Wi-Fi password in February 2018.

The incident happened when Kevon, who was then 16-years old, started arguing with his mother after he changed the Wi-Fi password so he could play video games without interruption.

Fearing that Kevon would turn violent, Alexus tried to interfere and protect their mother. Kevon and Alexus started brawling until they fell on the floor. Their mother attempted to separate them, but when she couldn’t, she called the authorities.

According to prosecutors, Kevon kept his sister in a chokehold for about 15 minutes. One Bibb County deputy who responded on the scene testified Kevon was still choking her when they arrived 10 minutes after the 911 call.

Authorities were eventually able to get Kevon to release his grip on his sister and they tried to resuscitate her. Alexus was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
