Newly Hired Bus Driver Finds, Rescues Missing 11-Year Old Girl

Lakesha English, city bus driver rescues missing girl

Hamilton, OH — Lakesha English, a woman from Ohio who had just started working as a city bus driver about 6 weeks ago, is being hailed a hero for rescuing an 11-year old girl who had been reported missing.

Last week, Lakesha found the girl, who was later identified as Pandora Phipps, alone at a nearby shopping center. She immediately sensed that something was wrong.

“I seen an itty bitty, little tiny girl sitting over in the corner and as I soon as I pulled up, I gravitated straight towards her. I had a feeling in my soul that something wasn’t right,” Lakesha told WESH.

It turned out that Pandora had been missing and was 4 miles away from her home. When Lakesha asked her how she got there, she said she walked.

Lakesha then decided to take her home before calling 911. A surveillance video taken from her home showed her taking care of the girl and keeping her warm.

“I couldn’t imagine pulling away from that stop and not helping her. Anything could have happened to her. The wrong person could have approached her,” Lakesha said.

Pandora’s family has been very thankful that Lakesha found her, and many people in the local community are calling her a hero.

“It warms my heart. It really does. I’m trying not to cry. I’ve been trying not to cry. I spoke with her mom last night. It really warms my heart, you know, and I would do it 10 times over again,” she said.
