73-Year Old Great Grandmother Beats Coronavirus After 5 Months

Marie Jean Pierre, woman who beat coronavirus

New York, NY — Marie Jean-Pierre, a 73-year old grandmother from New York City, has reportedly recovered from COVID-19 after almost 3 months in a hospital and 2 months in a rehab center. Her family is thankful to be finally reunited with her again.

Jean-Pierre was taken to the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn last March after experiencing difficulty in breathing and fever.

When she tested positive for coronavirus, she was intubated and placed on a ventilator although she initially didn’t want to, according to her daughter, Marie Delus. She was given tracheotomy at some point as well.

A few weeks before Jean-Pierre was taken to the hospital, she traveled to Spain with her family. Several people from the trip became ill and 5 became “very sick,” Delus told CNN.

After her hospitalization, Jean-Pierre was transferred to Brooklyn’s Saints Joachim and Anne Nursing and Rehab Center, where she had to relearn how to walk and talk. She was isolated away from her family whom she can only see behind the glass until she finally recovered recently.
