Orchestra Noir, The Atlanta African-American Orchestra’s Upcoming Concerts Are What the Community Needs Right Now

Orchestra Noir celebrates the Black Woman with “QUEEN” and exposes children to orchestral music with the “Black-Tie Children’s Concert”

The Atlanta African-American Orchestra

The full 44-piece orchestra, lead by Maestro Jason Ikeem Rodgers, performs at the sold out show “Night at the Symphony” on March 31, 2018.

Atlanta, GA — Orchestra Noir, the groundbreaking all African-American orchestra who has previously been featured with superstars like the Migos, Bryan-Michael Cox, Angela Simmons, and can be seen on the upcoming season of OWN Network’s hit show “Greenleaf”, presents two upcoming concert events aimed at celebrating the black family and community, “QUEEN: Mother’s Day Concert and VIP Burnch” and the “Black-Tie Children’s Concert”.

“We are so excited for these concert events that will uplift our community and showcase our excellence,” CEO and Music Director, Maestro Jason Ikeem Rodgers states. “Our Mother’s Day Concert will really celebrate the vital role that not only mothers play in our families and communities, but women as a whole. I want to honor women like my late grandmother, who gave me my first memories of music by playing the piano at church every Sunday, and was really the heartbeat of my family. I want to convey that positive imagery of the black woman. That is why we named the concert ‘Queen’” Rodgers states. Complete with an 18-piece orchestra, Maestro accompanying on a rare white grand piano, and African-American female opera singers – this concert promises to be a showstopping display of excellence.

“Our Children’s Concert is also a really special event that we have wanted to do for a long time, and we are so thankful to the Loudermilk Center for donating the space. This concert will expose our children to different kinds of music that they may not have heard before. I was in 6th grade when I first heard orchestral music, and I didn’t know it at the time – but it truly saved my life,” he states. Originally from an underprivileged neighborhood in North Philadelphia, Rodgers exposure to orchestral music quite literally changed his life and allowed him to earn 3 degrees, travel the globe, and work with some of the biggest stars in the world. He now wants to expose other children in our community to different types of music and let them know that it is a viable career option for them.

Orchestra Noir has gained critical and commercial acclaim by attracting Atlanta’s trendsetting and fashion-forward community and successfully fusing classical music with pop culture. Orchestra Noir was founded in 2016 by Music Director and CEO, Jason Ikeem Rodgers, and has been covered in prominent regional and national publications across the country.
