Community Activist and Expert Psychologist to Hold Town Hall Meeting in Atlanta to Help Urban Teens Make Better Decisions in Life

Orrin Hudson and Dr. Erik Fisher

Orrin Hudson and Dr. Erik Fisher AKA Dr. E.

Atlanta, GA — Master Motivator, Orrin “Checkmate” Hudson and Expert Emotional Educator, Dr. Erik Fisher (Dr. E.), the Ebony and Ivory of Personal Empowerment, are teaming up to help urban tweens and teens find their way in life by connecting the game of Chess with the “games” of emotion.

Winning at both chess and life takes a combination of experience, intelligence and “street smarts,” a combination that few master. Navigating the chess board and emotional landscape of life can seem almost impossible when people feel outmatched and outwitted. With simple tips and tricks from Orrin and Dr. E., participants will learn new skills to help them feel empowered and more successful in the game of life.

Both Hudson and Dr. Fisher have been featured on national media networks such as, CNN, NBC, FOX, and ABC. In addition, Hudson has been featured on Good Morning America and Dr. E appears monthly on WAGA-TV’s Good Day Atlanta.

Here are the details of the event:

WHAT: “Get in the Game of Life” Free Chess Training & Personal Empowerment Event
WHERE: Fairfield Inn & Suites, 7850 Stonecrest Square Lithonia, GA 30038
WHEN: Saturday, December 19th, 2015 1pm – 4pm (FREE and open to the public)
WHO: International Chess Champion and Master Motivator Orrin Hudson; and Media Consultant, Psychologist, and Author, Dr. Erik Fisher, aka Dr. E.

Dr. E. will answer these important questions:
* Why do Good, Strong, Right, and Win cripple us?
* Why do victims have the most power?
* Could every emotion possibly have a positive purpose?
* Is it possible for everyone to win?

Orrin Hudson says: “We must give our young people hope.” When they lose hope, we all lose. Many young people do not know what it means to believe in themselves. They have never been taught that they can achieve or succeed. I know firsthand what it’s like. I am a former gang member from Birmingham’s housing projects. I shared a small home with six brothers and six sisters. You do the math. I came through! Now, it’s my turn to help.”

Dr. E. teaches that: Life can happen FOR us, not TO us, and it is critical for kids, teens, and young adults to find ways to empower themselves rather than believing that others control their destiny. The way to our personal empowerment is through understanding that every emotion has a positive purpose. Everyone deserves the opportunity to make their life impactful, and developing better problem solving skills and understanding the emotional world around is a great start.”

About Orrin Hudson
Orrin C. Hudson (the “C” is for Checkmate!) is the founder of the non-profit “Be Someone, Inc.,” based in Atlanta. Teens learn to reach for a bishop, a knight, or a pawn, instead of a gun, a knife or a drug. Since 2001, “Be Someone” has used chess to bring 40,000 students the life-affirming message of “Peace, Positivity, and Purpose.” Hudson won’t stop until he’s reached at least one million students. Hudson is creating a new currency called KASH (Knowledge, Attitude, Skills, and Habits) in order to change lives for the better. Brains before bullets. For more details, visit www.BeSomeone.org
