Greater New Orleans, LA — Many youth of color who live in the Greater New Orleans community continue to excel in school, church, business and community. Some exhibit outstanding leadership abilities in their homes, and on athletic teams; while others are surviving terminal illnesses, beating depression and/or exhibiting mastery level talent in the arts. The images and voices of these heroic youth are largely void from mainstream media and community problem solving.
Eligible youth are ages 13-18, reside in Greater New Orleans and have a unique story that identifies them as ICONIC AND POWERFUL. Youth who are selected will also be invited to a private event, POWERful Teen Summit NOLA. The summit will be held on December 10, 2016 and will be hosted by YOUTHanasia Foundation, Inc., The Hope Center, Synergy@Work, and Boys Town Louisiana.
POWERful Teen Summit NOLA will convene iconic youth of color to lead and engage in community conversations that will produce media images to help deter negative youth behaviors in Greater New Orleans. The project is supported by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
Nominations can be submitted at www.youthanasiafoundation.com. The deadline to nominate a youth for a radio commercial feature is November 30, 2016. For more information, call (504) 473-4602.
