Police Confirm 19-Year-Old Black Man Killed by Wisconsin Officer Was Unarmed

Family upset after killing of unarmed Black man

Madison, WI — The Madison Police Department has officially admitted that Tony Robinson, an African American man that was recently killed by a Wisconsin police officer, was in fact unarmed.

According to the police chief, authorities had received a 911 call about a man who was “jumping into traffic”, and 45-year old Officer Matt Kenny was sent to the scene. Upon arrival, he saw 19-year old Robinson causing a “disturbance”, and reportedly chased him back to his house and forced his way inside. The officer says upon entering the home, he was hit in the head and knocked down.

He responded by withdrawing his weapon, and firing several shots at Robinson. Robinson was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Officer Kenny, meanwhile has been placed on paid administrative leave. He was previously cleared of wrongdoing in a fatal officer-involved shooting in 2007.

The blame game?

According to the police chief, Robinson was a suspect thought to be “responsible for a battery that had recently been committed.”

But even he admitted that this will be a complicated case because yet another unarmed black man has been killed by a white cop. “That’s going to make this all the more complicated for the investigators, for the public to accept,” he said.

Meanwhile, thousands of angry protestors across the U.S. are already organizing efforts to protest the shooting.
