Woman Calls 911 on a Black Man Who Was Babysitting Two White Kids

Nationwide — An unidentified white woman in Georgia reportedly called the police on Corey Lewis, a Black man, while he was at a local Walmart with two young white children that he was babysitting. The children’s parents, who are from East Cobb, had asked him to watch them while they were away.

The woman who spotted them, however, instantly assumed that something was wrong and Lewis decided to broadcast the incident on Facebook Live.

In his Facebook post, Lewis wrote, “This lady from Walmart harassed, followed and called the cops on me. ALL because I’m Black and have two white kids with me.”

In the first video that he posted, Lewis is seen in his car driving with both children in the backseat. He can be heard in the video saying, “This lady followed me all the way home to my neighborhood. I’m about to pull up to the crib, and let my mom handle this.”

Next, the video shows the woman’s car following them, and Lewis gets out of the car to confront her on camera.

In a second video, Lewis records as a police car arrives at his home and starts to talk with the officer.

“What’s up, man?” the officer says.

“I’m being followed and harassed, that’s what’s up,” Lewis responds.

He then explained, “I was at Walmart, yeah. I’ve got two kids I’m babysitting. We ate at Subway at Walmart, went and got some gas, and she pulled up talking about, ‘Are the kids okay?’ Why wouldn’t they be okay? No one’s yelling. No one’s screaming.”

“You mind if I talk to them?” the police officer asks Lewis.

He answers, “That’s crazy!”

Then, the officer says, “It’s an okay check, to make sure everything is alright.”

After the children step out of the vehicle, Lewis tells them, “Explain to the officer who Mr. Lewis is, please.”

The young girl tells the officer, “He’s an after-school teacher and he’s babysitting us.”

Later, when the children’s parents, David Parker and Dana Mango, found about what happened, they were highly upset.

“I said are you saying that because there’s an African American male driving my two white kids, that he was stopped and pulled over and questioned and he said ‘I’m sorry ma’am that’s exactly what I’m saying,'” Mango told CBS 46.
