Nationwide — Indie artist Allen Watty has released a music video on YouTube for his hit song, “Baby Brother,” which tells a compelling story that unfortunately too many mothers can relate to. It’s the story of a man who has committed a crime, is serving in prison, and decides to writes a letter of apology to his mom.

To date, the music video has received almost 20,000 views on YouTube and more than 5 million plays on SoundCloud. But one of Watty’s other songs, “The Hurricane Song” which was released in response to the government’s slow response to help African Americans displaced by Hurricane Katrina, has received more than 200,000 views on YouTube.

Watty, who is not signed to a major record label, has launched a GoFundMe page to raise the money needed to get his songs played on major radio stations. Those who want to support real R&B/pop songs with powerful messages are encouraged to donate.

Watty says that his songs are music you can feel, and that is also the name of his producer, Irvin Lee’s, production company – Music U Can Feel.

About Allen Watty
Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Allen started singing at the early age of five. It was then while playing in a room that his grandmother heard him singing at the top of his lungs. He would often put on a show for her and some of her neighborhood friends. His grandma’s favorite request was “Ain’t no Sunshine When She’s Gone.”

Allen is known around the Baltimore area as the singing elevator technician. His style of Old School crooning can often be heard resonating throughout the elevator shaft, and people drawn to the melodic sound often come looking to see who it is.
