12-Year-Old Black Student From Florida Makes History, Earns Associate Degree

Cameron Robinson

Nationwide — Meet Cameron Robinson, a 12-year-old student who has graduated with an Associate of Arts degree from Florida State College Jacksonville. He began college at the age of 7 and has now made history as one of the youngest students to earn a college degree.

While pursuing his college degree, Cameron has been simultaneously attending middle school through a dual enrollment program, according to 11 Alive.

Cameron has big dreams for the future. He aims to attend MIT and pursue a degree in engineering.

Despite his extraordinary accomplishments, Cameron remains humble, sharing that his friends often express disbelief when he tells them about his college graduation.

“My friends are always like, ‘what? You’re graduating college?’ And they don’t believe me whenever I tell them. So it’s definitely a cool experience,” Cameron said.

Meanwhile, Cameron appreciated the supportive environment at FSCJ, noting that his professors treated him like any other student. He expressed gratitude for the social skills he gained at the college, which he believes will benefit him when pursuing his bachelor’s degree.
